Original SLIPKNOT Singer Retires From Music Scene
May 7, 2003Original SLIPKNOT singer Andy Rouw (a.k.a. Anders Colsefini) has announced his decision to retire from the music scene. On the message board of his most recent band, ON A PALE HORSE, he wrote: "I, Andrew Rouw (aka Anders Colsefni),have decided to retire. My chords (vocal, that is) are a bit tired anymore, and they need to retire also. The band is going to continue without me, with my blessing. Thank-you for all of your support! Good-bye!"
ON A PALE HORSE guitarist Jas Spargur confirmed Anders' departure from the group, stating in a separate posting, "This is no joke my friends. After a very long discussion with my brother Andy, the band has made the decision to continue on without him. Andy will still be involved with the band....and he is still our brother. This was one of the hardest decisions anyone could make and I hope that everyone out there (who is friend or fan) will lend your support to him and to the band. Bands make changes daily, sometimes those changes involve members. We as a band hold nothing against each other. Decisions that are made reflect every aspect of the integrity of the band. I hope that everyone understands and accepts this decision with open arms. I personally love Andy for everything he has ever offered to me as a friend and family member. This is truly one of the hardest things I personally have ever had to deal with. Andy and I have been together in a band for 6 years. He is one of my closest friends. This is not the end of Andy, just a new path for him. As in the words of Chief Blackhawk 'Ake Wanate Se' (A strong spirit never dies)!!!!"
Colsefini, one of the founding members of SLIPKNOT alongside percussionist Shawn "The Clown" Crahan, contributed lead vocals to the band's 1997's independently-released effort "Mate Feed Kill Repeat". A short time after leaving the band in 1997, Anders went on to form PAINFACE, which later evolved into ON A PALE HORSE.
